Dear Brother and Sister Firefighters,

Let me begin by thanking each and every one of you who voted in your Union Elections. There will be a run-off for the position of President, of which I have the distinct honor of being one of the candidates. For those of you who supported me, I'm truly appreciative of your trust and confidence in my ability to unite and move our UNION forward. I ask for your continued support and may you encourage those that may have voted for another candidate, to please consider who ultimately is the only candidate with the most experience and has dedicated over 25 years in our department and 16 years with the leadership of Local 341.

Our Union is in a time sensitive period; with a newly elected mayor, a new Fire Chief in place, and a pending Collective Bargaining Contract, we must elect a President with LEADERSHIP, EXPERIENCE, and a COMMITMENT to reach out, to all segments and areas of our department. As a member of the City Hall Committee for the last (7) seven years, I feel your President must have an understanding and personal involvement of the political process. I have dedicated my involvement with Local 341 in many areas, and consider educating myself with the politics of City Hall as the most important.

This is not the time to lead, train, or educate someone who will represent YOU, the (3) third largest FIRE FIGHTERS UNION in the country. Your leader must be prepared, once elected, to immediately develop relationships with all Elected Officials without any delays due to a learning curve. Your leader must have a total understanding of our entire organization, not just one area. I believe I have the broad knowledge of our budget, our community involvement, organizing rallies, charities, and policies.

As your PRESIDENT, I will respectfully represent YOU and your FAMILIES, with honor and a passion for OUR duty as HOUSTON PROFESSIONAL FIRE FIGHTERS.

Again, I graciously appreciate your consideration and support for President of Local 341.

Respectfully submitted,

Roland M. Chavez
Candidate for HPFFA President - Local 341
